The Gympie Community Garden is excited to announce our inaugural Winter Series of talks. They’re set to stimulate conversation and initiative about managing landscapes that play a role in harnessing water and nutrient cycles, creating healthy habitats, encouraging local food production, and above all, be pleasant and inspiring places to be a part of.
First up, we’re delighted to present Stuart Andrews with his son Hamish. Stuart and Hamish manage Forage Farms on the banks of the Mary River in Kybong. Stuart runs workshops throughout the country on regenerating land and increasing productivity. Hearing their perspective relating to a shared, multi-use urban space in the heart of Gympie is sure to be fascinating.
We ask three questions:
What role would such a space have traditionally played, both in landscape and in community?
What would your ideal use be for such a space?
Given current and future constraints, what would your design and management approach be?
They will give a one hour presentation, then a short refreshment break, followed by a walk and talk around the gardens to help illustrate particular concepts and allow for questions.
