The Gympie Community Garden continues its Winter Series this month with Uncle Eugene Bargo presenting on Saturday 30th August.
A proud Gurang Gurang Kabi Kabi man, Eugene took a degraded cow paddock at Black Snake near Kilkivan and started planting trees 44 years ago. Today the property is teeming with life and supports a thriving florist business where he and his family are in demand across the country while still finding time to sell flowers at local markets.
Uncle Eugene travels extensively, running tours sharing his intimate knowledge and connection with the natural world, and telling stories. Lots of stories.
Uncle Eugene will address three questions (along with anything else that may take his fancy):
What role would such a space have traditionally played, both in landscape and in community?
What would your ideal use for such a space be?
Given current and future constraints, what would you recommend for the Gardens?
